I recently published for the publisher Contrasto (Italian partner of Magnum Photos) my new photo book entitled “Di quel giorno” ( About that day).
The book has been realized with the support of Leica Italia and collects my best wedding photos of the last 20 years.
“Carlo Carletti doesn’t follow the screenplay, he searches for his own. He’s the director of photography of a movie that has its own story. It’s own elegance. It’s own formal quality. It’s a continuous quotation of cinema, especially that of Rossellini and Visconti. It is the idea of movement, of gestures that go beyond boundaries. It’s a reflection on chiaroscuro that shifts the truth into another dimension. It’s a frame that opens onto a landscape and creates distance in order to add different elements to something that would happen regardless of photography: the rite of matrimony itself.” From the introdution by Roberto Cotroneo.
